Vaskó László was born in Nyíregyháza, Hungary, in 1971. At age eleven he moved to the USA with his family. His heritage and feelings towards his mother country remained strong. To maintain and enrich his cultural background he participated in numerous Hungarian youth activities, such as folk dance, scouting and Hungarian School. He has been interested in art since an  early age. Therefore, already in High School he participated in a correspondence program through Art Instruction Schools Inc. He also studied for a season at the New Jersey Center for Visual Arts. At present he attends Rutgers College, pursuing a Computer Science major, French minor, Art History and a very strong concentration in Painting as he came to the conclusion that painting is the only art form he is really interested in.

Only in 1991 had he the opportunity to return to Hungary. Seeing his home city and country again stirred up deep feelings. Upon returning, he immediately set to work putting his deepest feelings and longings towards the Hungarian countryside down on to canvas. In spite of his young age, Vaskó was able to represent the serenity and quiet beauty of the Hungarian landscape on his paintings.
However this exhibit is not only displaying landscapes. When his fiancee also traveled to Hungary and left László alone he tried to express his longings for his faraway loves by merging his fiancee, himself and the Hungarian countryside into one, on canvas. There is and interesting relationship between figure(s) and landscape, neither of them domineering the other. These works are dreamlike, spiritual and express his deepest feelings. The paintings reveal real talent and Vaskó should be encouraged in continuing to express himself in his paintings.
